Audience and targeting

Advertising.com targeting

Advertising.com offers a suite of powerful targeting solutions. Because we’ve got the biggest network around, we can help you reach your ideal consumers at scale – whomever they may be.

Audience behaviors
AOL Advertising observes people’s online activities (anonymously) across thousands of websites, then organizes people into groups based on their interests. Choose from over 350 pre-packaged audiences – including Auto Intenders, Apparel Shoppers, Business Decision Makers and more – or create your own custom segment. “Affluent Horror Movie Fans with Acid Reflux,” here you come!

Target users of specific AOL sites wherever they go across our AOL sites.

Retargeting
More exposure = better results. LeadBack, our retargeting solution, allows you to deliver ads to individuals who have:

  • Visited your website (Advertiser LeadBack)
  • Seen or clicked on your ad creative (Creative LeadBack)
  • Visited a webpage that you’re sponsoring (Sponsorship LeadBack)
  • NOT visited your website – a great way to reach more unique visitors (Reverse LeadBack)
  • Searched for a relevant word or phrase on AOL Search (SearchBack)

Other targeting
The Advertising.com network reaches over 22 million households. That’s a pretty big pie, any way you slice it.

  • Demographic/household: Target individuals, households or sites based on user registration data.
  • Survey-based: Target users based on their responses to consumer survey questions (e.g., MRI).
  • Purchase-based: Target users based on products they’ve purchased.
  • Geographic: Target users by country, state, city, DMA, or ZIP+4 code.
  • Daypart: Target users by the time-of-day or time-of-week regardless of time zone.
  • Technographic: Target users by connection speed, operating system, browser type, etc.
  • Custom database match: Target your customers within AOL’s membership database.
  • Look-alike modeling: Target users who exhibit similar characteristics to your customers (or other valuable audiences).
  • Shopper Scan: Target audiences who look like your customers. Shopper Scan uses IRI data to identify customers who have purchased your product. We use this information to create a profile of your customers, using thousands of behavioral and offline criteria. You can then target this audience profile across AOL sites or the Advertising.com network.
