Title: Director of Services, ADTECH

Areas of expertise: Ad serving technology, point of escalation, migration support, working with third parties

How long have you been with ADTECH?
Four years.

What is your favorite feature that ADTECH’s ad serving platform offers?
ADTECH has many features that make our customers’ lives easy. But my all-time favorite feature is the “alias.” The alias feature allows customers to use a string to replace our unique placement identifier. This gives them the ability to control how their ads appear on the site and makes the user experience more seamless.

Tell us what you found surprising about U.S. culture after moving here from Germany?
What I found surprising was the amount of warmth, openness and acceptance of different backgrounds, interests and lifestyles.

How have things changed at ADTECH since it was acquired by AOL?
The acquisition expedited ADTECH’s growth – both technology and employee-wise.

What’s the strangest request you’ve ever gotten from a client?
To change the color of ADTECH’s user interface to pink. The customer really liked this color. Unfortunately, it was not possible.

But I can tell you that most of ADTECH’s best features originated from a customer request at some point.

Where do you see display advertising in five years?
It is hard to say because it has changed so much in the past few years. But I do think that advertising on mobile devices will change dramatically. One thing that will probably always stay the same is the customer’s need for a reliable ad server!

What are the most common mistakes publishers make when managing their inventory?
Publishers often don’t maximize their full inventory when events (such as breaking news) happen. Instead of booking some kind of remnant layer to monetize on this increase in traffic, house ads end up being served.

What are you working on right now?
We are currently reviewing and making adjustments to our support structure.
ADTECH customers speak highly of our service team but I know we can do better. We want to make ADTECH support the best in the industry, and I am very excited to be part of the team that is going to make it happen.

What’s something we don’t know about you?
I would like to take this opportunity to share some wonderful news with all of my friends and colleagues: I’m expecting to be a first-time father late this summer. This is a very exciting time for me and I am tremendously happy to be sharing this part of my life with AOL.

If you could give one piece of advice to publishers, what would it be?
